About

GaPl-JiWoo

GaPl-JiWoo is an abbreviation for ‘Bring Plastic, Save Our Ocean’ in Korean.
It serves as an environmental campaign platform where various companies,
NGOs, and public institutions collaborate to keep the sea clean and beautiful as
well as collect plastic.

GaPl-JiWoo originated from a plastic collection campaign that began in Emart
stores in Seoul in 2018 Waste plastic collected from customers has been
upcycled into reflective plates for traffic safety signs for kids, folding shopping
carts, garbage tongs for Plogging, and Droplet blocking screens and these
items have been donated to local communities.

Garbage sometimes crosses borders and is lost during fishing activities, but
most of it originates on land and ends up in the sea. And garbage in the sea and
on the coast is increasing every year.
GaPl-JiWoo participants who voluntarily gathered have picked up, separated,
and disposed of trash discarded or washed up on the coast. It This initiative is
named ‘Sea of this Month’, and it has been expanded to cover seas across
the country since 2022.

In addition we create and support environmental education contents so that
marine conservation activities can be learned and practiced easily, We are
continuously implementing our campaign vision through various
collaborations, such as promoting eco-friendly product and environmental
exhibitions.

As a result of these efforts, an increasing number of partners are joining
GaPl-JiWoo, making it grow into an environmental campaign platform from
a simple campaign.
